Survey: UK learning technologists on COVID-19 impact

With colleagues from the University of Bristol (Professor Richard Watermeyer) and Swansea University (Dr Cathryn Knight), we are investigating learning technologists’ perspectives on the rapid shift to online learning, teaching and assessment in UK universities due to COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus).

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has caused universities across the UK — and indeed, globally — to rapidly move to “emergency remote teaching”; many UK higher education institutions are now planning for learning, teaching and assessment to be (at least) partially delivered online and for some, if not the whole, of the coming 2020-2021 academic year.

Building on recent work, this anonymous UK-based survey has been designed to capture your perspectives as experts working at the forefront of learning technologies, digital learning, educational technology, and L&T development in UK universities. In particular, we wish to capture your views and perspectives of how this is being developed and implemented at the institutional and/or national level, as well as the longer-term impacts on the UK HE sector. Your views are essential to building a “whole-community” understanding of the response of UK universities and the challenges they face in the ongoing context of COVID-19 and the rapid transitioning to online learning, teaching and assessment:
